“The political world in Europe has made it easier for companies to lay off employees. At the same time, it’s not working hard enough for laid off workers to give them a chance to retrain and get back to the labor market”.

Robert Wade, professor of political economy and development at the London School of Economics has no doubts about the real labor market emergency.

The professor outlines the direction that industrial policy should move in: “Much more so than in the past, mid-level jobs should be a priority: that is to say, jobs that require “medium” skills and that provide “average” salaries. These are the jobs that are growing in numbers with the development of artificial intelligence”.

Wade has three tips for young people: “First of all: invest in digital skills”. Find the other two tips in this video interview.
